Global Terrorism ~ Causes and Effects

The practice of violence and intimidation for political purposes is what we better know as terrorism. Being an immoral act, it is one of the greatest threats the common man faces on a global scale. But if it is of so much disliking why is it caused in the first place?
To understand terrorism it is quite necessary to understand the mindset, the mentality of those who terrorize. When one is deprived of something desirable, one tends to convince those involved in the matter. If not cogent enough, an argument is born between the two. Once words cease to express one's views or rather anger, a fight breaks out. Violence is its by-product. Such large scale violence is the heart and soul of terrorism. The people who commit this crime are of the conviction that their demands will only be fulfilled if the people are given a taste of violence.
A characteristic of terrorism which makes it so dreadful is that it can strike anywhere without warning. It is only after the act does one realize how adversely it can effect social life. Security levels are seen to incrase in places of high population where the impact is most suspected. Restrictions are imposed on citizens as to what things they may carry to places. Ensuring safety through security is a huge waste of money and also time. Moreover, it creates great inconvenience to people. For just a handful of terrorists millions have to be checked. Seldom is an innocent one caught in the process. This security is a reminder of what could happen in the worst case scenario, leaving them in a shade of fear.
Being the most advanced race on Earth, mankind is progressing like never before. But is this a matter of pride for us, taking into view terrorism? Have we forgotten the true sense of life? Does our happiness really lie in the sorrow of others? It is the time we should pause and reminisce what past personalities have taught us; the time we reconsider moral ethics as our faith has taught us. Only then will terrorism be uprooted from its deepest roots and consequently promote world peace.
